The building was originally designed to achieve the equivalent of a 4 Greenstar rating based on the Australian Green Star System. During construction the NZ rating tool was launched so it was decided to adopt this. BNZ wanted to achieve 5 Greenstar status, so the Design and Specification was upgraded to reflect this. As Manson sponsored the creation of the “As Built” rating tool this building became a pilot project.
The Green features include cycle and pedestrian commuter facilities, a “rain harvesting” system for toilet flushing, small car parks and an integrated fit-out was undertaken with BNZ.
Low VOC materials were used where possible and 90% of the steel used in the construction was recycled.
The building is rated 5 Greenstar for “Design” and “As Built”. This denotes NZ excellence.
This development was awarded “Excellence” by the Property Council of NZ in the 2009 Awards. |
